Meet Adele our girls u14 coach βš½οΈπŸ‘πŸΌ

Adele coaches our under 14 girls team Β (along with Simon) and together they are doing a brilliant job. The team have won 7 of their 12 league games this season and are looking to push on in the second half of the season.

Anyway, lets get to know Adele a little more when she answers our coaches questions…..

How did you get into coaching at Greetland FC ?

I got involved about 9 years ago when my youngest daughter joined in with one of the wildcat sessions when she was 5 years old. A new U6 team was formed and I helped coach the team for 7 years before taking a break. The team had several changes at the end of the 2023/24 season, so I have stepped back up to help coach the team again who are now our U14 girls.

Whats the best advice you could give to someone looking to get into coaching ?

It’s not about winning, it’s about ensuring your players have fun first and foremost. This will allow your players to develop to their full potential and not afraid to make mistakes.

Did you play football when you were younger ?

Yes, I was always playing football with the boys in the school playground, and was the only girl in the school team throughout primary and secondary school. I joined the only girls team in Halifax at the time (Bright Sparks) at the age of 9/10 years old, playing in the Sheffield and District League for several years.

Who is/was your biggest inspiration ?

My parents and former PE teacher.

Which football team do you support and why ?

The mighty Shaymen! I have followed the team from a young age attending games with my dad who is a lifelong supporter. I was even fortunate enough to be a ball girl at home games for several years too.

You’re going out to dinner which three famous people make the table ?

Sarina Wiegman (so I can get some tips and advice)
Michael Jordan
Ant & Dec (2 for the price of 1) if I had to choose between them, then it would be Dec!

Favourite takeaway meal ?

Chinese – Chicken in Oyster Sauce with boiled rice.

If you could change one rule in football what would it be ?

Harsher punishments for professional players who over react to incidents on the pitch. Plus when they surround and harass the referee when a decision has been made, which they don’t agree with.

It’s 1-1 in a game against your local rivals with 30 seconds left and your team has a corner, are you sending the keeper up for it ?

No, I would keep them back and have trust in my outfield players to score.

Favourite holiday destination ?

Florida – Madeira Beach
